There are no limits to a child's imagination. It runs free and is able to reframe almost anything into an adventure, even during life's toughest journeys when leaving behind all that is safe and known.

Exit Tales is an animated series that fuses imagination and reality. It is based on the stories of six children fleeing their homes in Venezuela, Afghanistan, Syria, Guatemala, South Sudan and Ukraine in order to survive.

Through voice-redorded interviews, we learn the stories of six child refugees. But instead of re-telling events, we focus on their imaginative way of depicting their migrant journey. Using the full capacities of animation, each child will be represented by a fictional character that can freely move between the real and the imaginative world. This serves as a greater metaphor for the consequences of leaving home and having to adapt to a new reality, experiencing xenophobia, and grieving for those left behind while creating a universal depiction of what it is like to be an immigrant.
